The Carlton Club is one of London’s foremost members-only clubs. It was founded in Georgian London in 1832 as the original home of the Conservative Party before the days of Conservative Central Office. Today the club continues to uphold these values in its day to day activities.
The clubhouse facilities include dining rooms, bars, accommodation and private dining rooms. Members refer to the club as a home away from home. It can be used as a base when visiting London or as a meeting point for friends. A selection of well-appointed private dining rooms for those special occasions are available.
Members and guests can enjoy daily changing menus and a carefully selected wine list. Locally sourced fresh and seasonal produce are used to create innovative dishes. Celebrating the best of British produce is the essence of the club’s cuisine.
The Macmillan Terrace bar and Drawing room offer an extensive selection of beverages. The award winning club gin is a popular choice for those looking for refreshment or others may enjoy the club wines specially selected by the wine committee.
Overnight guests can stay in one of the newly refurbished bedrooms with all the amenities expected of deluxe accommodation.
Its unique charm and elegance are second to none, combining traditional style with modern facilities and resources. Whether you would like a quiet coffee in the Thatcher Drawing Room, lunch with friends in the Churchill Room or a cool beverage on the Terrace, the Club offers you the sustenance and service you need.
The Club offers two exceptional dining rooms – the Wellington Room and the Churchill Room. Both serve classic and modern dishes with ingredients locally sourced and celebrate the best of British suppliers. Our Executive Head Chef, Manoj Gurung, creates and crafts exquisite menus that are innovative and delicious.
The Club was founded in 1832, following the massive reform majority in the 1831 General Election, by Tory Peers, MPs and others, in order to improve the organisation and effectiveness of the Party.
The Carlton Club has an outstanding list of 151 reciprocal clubs in 36 countries around the world. Members make their own arrangements with any reciprocal club they intend to visit.
Membership is on application, supported by a Proposer and Seconder who are both members of the Club, have been Members for two years and have known the applicant for two years.
